Ditch the Round-Up and Ortho (Deltamethrin)
Plain vinegar can work wonders in your garden, as can baking soda, aka sodium bicarbonate. Baking soda in small doses may be good for your soil, balancing the pH to potentially alleviate imbalances in acidic soil, as this article by Anne, titled Natural Garden Tips, aptly points out.

Another article by Meghan Shinn that appeared in Horticulture online spotlights the 5,000 rose bushes at Hershey Gardens in Pennsylvania and offers an insecticide-free way to rid roses of aphids and other unwelcome pests without harming your wild bird population - or harming you.

Recipe

1Tablespoon of vinegar mixed in 1 cup of water; add 1.5 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of liquid dish detergent and finally 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Put into a small spray bottle and spray your roses. **NOTE** that baking soda mixed with vinegar will cause the vinegar to foam and rise a lot. Make sure your bottle or mixing space allows for this. Lastly, the oil and dish liquid enable the mixture to stay on the plant to do their job.
